Digital policy youth engagement program has appointed around 60 youth ambassadors
After several weeks of open application procedure, the YouthxPolicyMakers program has finalized the selection of candidates to participate in the program. The project received over 1,700 applications from 84 countries.
Kristina Hatas, project manager in the YouthxPolicyMakers program: "The fact that so many people applied from virtually all regions of the world shows how global and relevant the topic of Internet governance is. Digital policy greatly affects young people all around the world, and they want their voice to be heard. This is why we look forward to giving these youth representatives a platform to advocate for their stances together."
Now that successful applicants have been selected and notified, the program will begin with the stage of competence-building workshops, co-organized by the GI, YIGF Poland and the IGF Secretariat. Over the course of four sessions taking place in August and September, participants will enter into dialogue with experienced digital policy experts and activists to learn more about topics such as the Internet governance ecosystem, access & accessibility, content & media, as well as trust, security & protection of vulnerable groups. They will also get an opportunity to benefit from each others' knowledge, and to formulate goals or positions to carry over into the next stage of the program. Starting October, applicants will take part in roundtables with Policy Makers, discussing pressing questions in digital policy.
