First Youth Internet Governance Summit on 24 November in Berlin

In the run-up to the global Internet Governance Forum in Berlin, the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (German Informatics Society) is bringing a new dimension to the Internet Governance Forum.  Gathering over 100 young people from 40 nations at the Youth Internet Governance Forum to discuss the future of the Internet.

From 25 to 29 November 2019, the global Internet Governance Forum will take place for the first time in Germany with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. The GI is also represented with several activities at the event, which brings together international representatives from politics, business, civil society and technical communities. On the day before the official launch, 24 November, the GI will also host the Youth Internet Governance Forum, an international congress for the next generation of Internet governance.

Over a hundred young people between the ages of 18 and 30 come from all over the world to Berlin to work together on their demands for an Internet of the future. The youth representatives from more than 40 countries were able to network in advance in several webinars and exchange information on the topics of data protection, digital education, public discourse on the Internet and cybersecurity.

The programme of the Youth Internet Governance Forum includes numerous participatory workshops and sessions - all aimed at strengthening youth participation in the Internet Governance Forum and making the expertise of the next generation of digital decision-makers more visible.
